Virtual Homeschool Learning Lab is a weekly program that offers engaging enrichment lessons created just for homeschoolers via Zoom. Come join us each week to learn, explore, and connect with other homeschooling families in Durham. A supply kit will be provided for the program. For any questions regarding kit pickup or accommodation needs, please reach out to Molly at mschaefer@dconc.gov. We ask that all requests be made at least three (3) business days prior to the event to ensure we can provide the best accommodations possible!

School-age kids (K-5th grade) are encouraged to join Ms. Abbie in the children’s programming room for a different craft each session! This time we'll be making pinwheels to celebrate Library Fest 2026 -- The Stories that Built U.S.! Library Fest runs from April 20-25, so be sure to check out our other programs and events during this time. This program is made possible by the Friends of the Durham County Library.

Join us for Stars, Stripes & Pretzel Bites, a fun hands‑on pretzel‑decorating event at Bragtown Branch Library. Participants will twist, dip, and decorate their own pretzels using colorful toppings and sweet chocolate coatings. The program includes take‑home treats and is perfect for children of all ages. This event is part of a festive celebration featuring creative food fun and is hosted by Euphoria Sweets by KB. Registration required.

Heartfulness meditation practice is a simple and effective way to integrate meditation into our daily lives. The Heartfulness technique shows us how to gently turn our attention toward our hearts and experience that inner presence for ourselves. There will be a brief introduction and instruction, followed by a guided relaxation, leading into a silent heart-centered meditation. Sessions are conducted by a certified Heartfulness meditation instructor and open to everyone over the age of 15. No prior experience necessary. Registration is not required. Read-alouds are for grown-ups too! Join us for a weekday evening adult story time at the North Regional Library. Flop on the carpet with a floor pillow, pull up a chair, or sit at a table if you want to bring your own dinner or snacks. Spend an hour listening to read-alouds from books and stories in the library collection. Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate will be provided. This month: two short stories from a bulky volume called The Improbable Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. This anthology comprises tales by contemporary authors in the style of the original stories with all the familiar details: the quarters at 221-B Baker Street, the spooky gaslit streets of London, and "inexplicable" situations and phenomena that will be handily navigated by Sherlock and Watson. Whether you are new to fragrance or an experienced hobbyist, this program will help you discover new perfumes and scents. Bring perfumes, candles, or essential oils to share and discuss as we learn about the art of olfaction! Registration is encouraged, but not required.
