DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special Friends of the Durham Library feature e
 vent at Library Fest!\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\nJoin Durham County Library
 's own Jennifer Jamsky in conversation with New York Times bestselling a
 uthor Sarah Vowell.\n\nSarah Vowell is the New York Times bestselling au
 thor of seven nonfiction books on American history and culture. By exami
 ning the connections between the American past and present\, she offers 
 personal\, often humorous accounts of American history as well as curren
 t events and politics. Her book\, Lafayette in the Somewhat United State
 s\, explores both the ideas and the battles of the American Revolution\,
  especially the patriot founders’ alliance with France as personified by
  the teenage volunteer in George Washington’s army\, the Marquis de Lafa
 yette.\n\nThis event is free to the public\, but space is limited and re
 gistration is required. Doors will open at 5:15 pm and all registrants m
 ust be checked in no later than 5:50 pm\, at which point wait list atten
 dees will be invited to enter.\n\nThis year the United States of America
  commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. 
 Library Fest will mark this moment with its 2026 theme "The Stories of U
 .S."\, taking an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s past\, honor the
  contributions of all people\, and shape a better future for generations
  to come.\n\nSarah Vowell will be joined in conversation by Durham Count
 y Library Accessibility Services Coordinator Jennifer Jamsky as they dis
 cuss Ms. Vowell's works\, tell the stories of some of the historical fig
 ures who have shaped our country\, and discuss the importance of learnin
 g from our history as we vision and plan for our future. Following the c
 onversation Ms. Vowell will take audience questions\, and the event will
  conclude with a book signing.\n\nThe Regulator Bookshop will be on-site
  with copies of Ms. Vowell's books available for purchase.\n\n\n\nThis e
 vent is specifically brought to you by Friends of the Durham Library\n\n
 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere can I park when the Main Library parking lot is full

 en Street Garage located at 115 North Queen Street which is behind the a
