  tax\, payable by card when you arrive for your tour.\n\nAdvanced regist
 ration is recommended for these tours\, as space is limited. Register at

  reservation. \n\nEach June\, Historic Stagville offers special tours fo
 cused on Emancipation as part of the site’s commemoration of Juneteenth.
  This guided tour will highlight how enslaved people claimed their freed
 om at Stagville in 1865. The tour explores the detailed history of Emanc
 ipation on one of North Carolina’s largest plantations. Hear stories of 
 how formerly enslaved families celebrated\, defended themselves\, and se
 arched for family\, while the plantation owners strategized to hold on t
 o their power and wealth. Stories of love\, loss\, labor\, and family il
 luminate the complex history of freedom in the 1860s. \n\nThe Emancipati
 on tour lasts about 75 minutes\, with outdoor and indoor stops. The tour
  includes walking outdoors on uneven surfaces\, stops inside historic bu
 ildings\,  and one 3/4 mile drive in your own vehicle.\n\nSource: NC Sta
