Join the Maker STEAM Team in the Innovation Lab during specified open hours to discover the power of robotics thorugh color! Code our special color sensing Ozobots by drawing directly onto the page, or dive deep into the basics of block coding using the Ozoblockly software! This is a self-paced activity. You can drop in during the listed Open Lab Hours. Do you enjoy playing video games? Have you never played a video game but always wanted to try one? Youths ages 7-12 years and their caregivers are welcome to join Ms. Natalie for some in-library gaming on the Nintendo Switch! We will provide games and a Nintendo Switch at the program. Join us as we learn to use Linkedin Learning by signing up for Drawing Foundations: Figure. We will learn how to access Linkedin Learning and sign up for the class so participants can rewatch the videos at home. Each week, we will watch a different lesson and put it into practice as we learn to draw the human figure Registration is required. Registration for the first session will automatically register you for all sessions through March. Are you looking for the community of a book club without the commitment? Do you want to get more reading done, but you struggle to find the time and stay focused? Grab your book and come to our Read & Sip! Grab a warm beverage, listen to some music, and read your book in the company of other avid readers. At the end, we will come together to share what we have been spending our time reading. We will spend 45 minutes reading our books, and then the final 15 minutes will be dedicated to group discussion. Registration is appreciated, but not required. Questions? Comets, Clues, and Our Comic Story April 29, 2026 at 6pm ET Learn about the origins of our solar system as you scan online images from space. Join us in-person to view online images from a NASA observatory and learn how to identify and report comets and other space objects. Each comet you discover offers clues about how planetary systems form and the possible origins of Earth’s water. The NASA-supported project leader will join us via Zoom to describe the research and answer any questions we have as we participate in “Rubin Comet Catchers” together. Join us and be part of 2.50 Million Acts of Science this April during Citizen Science Month. No experience needed—just curiosity! Please bring a device (phone, laptop, or tablet) if you can. Limited devices are available.

Join us for a demonstration on how to use Design Space and the Cricut cutting machine to make stickers! The theme will be spring flowers, and the program will include a walk-through of the steps in Design Space as well as cutting the stickers out with the Cricut. Registration is required. All things romance! This book club talks about all things romance, starting with the month's theme but quickly branching out into other books we've been reading and loving, books we want to read, and what's going on in Romancelandia - you'll walk away every month with lots of recs for your TBR! Because of our wide-ranging discussions, you should always feel free to drop in, even if you haven't gotten a chance to try the book club picks. This month we're reading Late Bloomer by Mazey Eddings and The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang. Come join a supportive group environment for self-paced digital skills courses. We'll be using Northstar Digital Literacy, a free online resource available to all Durham County Library patrons. A library staff member will be present to get you set up and answer questions as each participant moves through online modules on their own at their own pace. Northstar allows you to track your learning progress and earn badges or certificates for completing a course. These classes are best for learners who have at least basic keyboard and mouse skills. Our computer lab has a limited number of laptops for use, so bringing your own laptop and headphones is encouraged.
