Privacy Policy
Triangle Events Hub is a free community noticeboard. We collect as little about you as the site can run on — and we never sell it.
Who we are
Triangle Events Hub (“we,” “us,” or “the Service”) is an independent, non-commercial directory that gathers publicly listed events from parks, libraries, municipalities, and community organizations across the Raleigh–Durham–Chapel Hill region of North Carolina into one place. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
Information you give us. If you subscribe to the email digest or create an account, we store your email address and your digest preferences (such as frequency and categories). If you create an account, we store your password only as a salted one-way hash — never in plain text, and we cannot recover it.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and timestamps) for a short time to keep the site secure and to diagnose problems. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Location — only if you ask.The map’s “Locate” button uses your browser’s geolocation to center the map near you. This happens entirely in your browser; your coordinates are not sent to or stored on our servers.
Third-party services that may receive data
Running the Service involves a few providers who process limited data on our behalf or as part of delivering the page to you:
- OpenStreetMap— map tiles load directly from OpenStreetMap when you open the map view, so your browser’s IP address is visible to them at that moment, under their own policy.
- Resend — our email provider, which processes your email address to deliver the digest you requested.
- Railway — our hosting platform, through which normal infrastructure logs pass.
We don’t control these providers’ own practices. We’re happy to point you to their privacy policies on request.
How we use your information
- To send the email digest you signed up for.
- To sign you in and remember your preferences.
- To keep the Service secure and troubleshoot issues.
- To respond when you contact us.
What we don’t do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We will not share it except with the service providers listed above, or where we are required to by law.
Cookies
If you create an account, one essential cookie holds your signed-in session. It is not used for tracking or advertising. If you browse anonymously — which is all you need to use the List, Calendar, and Map views — no login cookie is set.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from the digest at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
- Delete your account and data by emailing us at hello@triangleeventshub.com.
- Browse without an account — no email is required to use the Service.
Data retention
We keep account and subscription data until you ask us to delete it or you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept only briefly.
Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for adults arranging activities, including family activities. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and traffic is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date below and post the new version here. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
