About the event

Presented by the Economic Development Partnership of NC

Don’t let confusing rules or mixed messages hold you back! This workshop cuts through the noise and gives you the straight facts about what it takes to launch your business the right way.

We’ll walk you through the state, local, and federal requirements and point you to free resources North Carolina offers to help you succeed.

Get answers to the questions every new entrepreneur asks:

I have an EIN… now what? DBA, LLC, Corporation, S-Corp - what’s the difference? How much does it cost, and how long will it take? Do I need a license or a State Tax Number? Can I run my business from home?

Leave with clarity, confidence, and a roadmap to turn your idea into a real business.

This event repeats! You can also join us on August 3 or November 16.

Laurel Rupe is Director of the Small Business Advisors team at EDPNC, where she and her team help entrepreneurs navigate North Carolina’s business requirements to start and grow their companies. She brings experience in management, customer service, and HR from roles with IBM, Ceridian, and other organizations. A longtime Raleigh resident, she is also a mixed media artist who enjoys creating and teaching needlework, paper arts, and watercolor.
