Exploration Station: Juneteenth: Celebrating Freedom

On June 19, people all across the country will gather to commemorate a moment of emancipation that occurred 161 years ago in Galveston, Texas.

About the event

On June 19, people all across the country will gather to commemorate a moment of emancipation that occurred 161 years ago in Galveston, Texas. Stop by this self-guided exhibit to learn more about Juneteenth, the fight for freedom in the 1860s, and celebrations of emancipation over time. This self-guided table will be inside the A.E. Finley Center. FREE.

Mill Open House

Discover Historic Yates Mill during this free, drop-in program. The doors to the mill will be open, and historic interpreters will be available to talk about the history and inner workings of the mill and to answer questions.
