Who are these insects that were among the first to evolve and exist with and before dinosaurs? What kind of prey do they eat? Where do dragonflies live? When do female dragonflies feign death? Why are dragonflies iridescent?

Join Chris Goforth, head of Collaborative Science at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science, to learn more about these masters of flight!

Chris Goforth is the head of Collaborative Science at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science and spends her day connecting visitors to scientific research they can take part in as non-experts. She holds a bachelor's degree in biology and a master’s degree in entomology and has published studies on dragonflies and giant water bugs. She was scared of insects as a young child, but dragonflies have been her favorite insects as long as she’s liked bugs. She is most interested in their fascinating behaviors.

Tuesday July 28th starting at 6 p.m. in the Durham County Main Library auditorium located at 300 North Roxboro Street in Durham.

Parking is available in the library parking lot or at the North Queen Street Garage located at 115 North Queen Street which is behind the apartments directly across the street from the library. Parking at the garage is free. Please bring your parking ticket to a service point for validation.

Registration is appreciated to receive an email reminder, cancellation link, and program updates. Seating is first come first served. Registration does not hold or guarantee a seat.

There will be no live animals or insects at this event.
